Independent coil springs are seen up front, and in the rear a 4 link with coil springs are seen along with the rear boxed lower control arms and rear sway bar. A slightly surface rusted black frame provides the backbone and all is structurally sound underneath. ![]() Nice and clean, with a touch of Black Cherry paint gracing the solid and rust free floor pans. A correct 3-speed TH400 automatic transmission is on back and a 12-bolt 2.56 Positraction rear is noted. Hoses are supple and there is no corrosion to be seen, just a bit of dust. A single 4-barrel factory carburetor is atop and is flanked by orange factory valve covers. Now blessing the engine bay is the correct and original 454ci 360hp LS5 V8 which shows with a touch of patina to the orange/red painted block, cylinder heads and intake manifold. Take a deep breath and touch, feel, and enjoy all this originality. Nice black carpet is flooding the bottom and on top we note a beautifully tight headliner with no marks on it with a large near showroom bench across the back of the car below this headliner. A sleek center console has a jet pilot throttler looking shift lever and a storage space on back that doubles as an armrest. The factory AM/FM/8 Track radio resides here as well and a black rimmed steering wheel with more walnut appliqué is fronting the dash. A clean door pull and opening handle and armrest are on as well so now we can move to the dash! To add some class is a nicely preserved burl walnut appliqué dash, complete with all the buttons, knobs and levers for the drivers visual and comfort. More black vinyl, some smooth, some with puffy tuck and roll inserts make up the door panels. 15-inch rally wheels are on all 4 corners, and are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle raised white letter rubber with nearly new tread.Īll orginal nice black cloth tuck and roll inserts are showing on the inserts and smooth black vinyl is making up the bolsters with adjustable headrests on the high back buckets. Including all the trimmings around the glass and on the body edges which shine on like a crazy diamond. Not to mention the straight panels and well minded gaps, SS454 badged rocker molding and we can serve up plenty for your satisfaction. An egg crate grille, single headlights, and rear bumper that works with the rear quarter to house the taillights and there is nothing but sweetness from 1970 here on the Classic Auto Mall floor. ![]() Plenty of nicely preserved chrome trimmings to put this car in a class where it will grow on you. A few inclusions and areas of orange peel are noted in the finish, but this is a respray of the factory color and is holding up well with no rust or bubbling. This 1970 Monte Carlo with its black vinyl roof and clean Black Cherry paint is inviting you to take a deep dive into it with your eyes. Now it is up to you if you want to take it to the next level or just drive it as original. This car, which has been owned by our faithful consignor for the last 30+ garage kept years, has a few faults but remains original save for the paint. Offered on consignment is this classy Monte that is a solid cruiser and a big block bruiser that's benefitted from careful restoration as needed. And, not as ostentatious as a Corvette or as boorish as a Camaro, the car spent most of its life as the poster child for evolving automotive tastes. Introduced in 1970, and proudly parked in over half a million driveways during its first three years of production, the brand's 'personal luxury coupe' was decidedly cool. Possibly the most substantial victim of that unfortunate phenomenon is the storied Monte Carlo. Over the past 105 years, Chevrolet has built such a vast empire of lovable offerings that some of them just seem to get overlooked. ![]()
